Associate Professor Darren Ting is a UK-accredited, dual-trained clinical academic Consultant Ophthalmologist with subspecialty interest in Cornea, Ocular Surface, Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He completed his Ophthalmology Specialist Training (UK) in 2018 (with double gold medals in UK national exams) and his PhD (funded by MRC, Fight for Sight and Royal College of Ophthalmologists) in 2021. A/Prof Darren Ting specialises in the diagnosis and management of corneal and ocular surface diseases and performs high-volume cataract surgeries and a wide range of corneal surgeries, including highly complex corneal transplantations. As a dedicated researcher, he has secured prestigious fellowships and research grants, and published more than 140 peer-reviewed papers and a book with the Oxford University Press (as the Chief Editor). He currently serves as the Chair of Scientific and Research Committee at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is also ranked among the top 0.1% of global experts in the field of corneal infection and inflammation.
